Early Childhood Education

Ages 3, Pre-K, and Kindergarten

In The Children’s House, young students are masters of their space. Classrooms are organized and managed by Montessori Guides, who act as trained observers that assist students with managing their child-sized spaces and present educational materials when developmentally appropriate.

Elementary Education

Grades 1-5

Children are empowered to independently complete challenging tasks, balance responsibilities, and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. In a cooperative, non-competitive classroom, students learn to approach learning activities with creativity, imagination, and curiosity at the forefront.

Secondary Education

Lower: Grades 6-8 - Upper: Grades 9-10

Situated in historic Duck Pond, our Secondary Campus invites students to investigate complex interrelationships between subjects and identify real-world applications. With an emphasis on experiential learning opportunities, adolescents are prepared for the transition into adulthood through volunteer work, internships, orientation programs, and international research trips.

The Curriculum

Specializing In Scientific Methodology

At Laniakea Montessori School, our curriculum is developed to teach children to view the world from a scientific perspective. We provide students with a well-rounded pre-K through 10th grade education by emphasizing the importance of collaborative work across age groups, self-motivated learning, and interdisciplinary understanding.

  1. Self-Directed Study
By allowing students to guide their own curriculum, Laniakea encourages them to develop a positive impression of learning. This approach fosters critical thinking, independence, and resourcefulness without the added stress of grades and deadlines.
  2. Multi-Age Grouping
At Laniakea Montessori School, children are grouped according to their stage of development rather than their traditional grade level. Multi-age grouping removes the limitations that conventional education places on children. As such, children always have peers to look up to and to tutor, improving retention, social skills, and intrinsic motivation.
  3. Global Understanding
Montessori children are educated about the interconnectedness of history, international culture, and the world around them from an early age. This contextual understanding encourages children to be respectful, curious, and responsible members of society.
